Among these mandatory requirements are those relating to the maximum authorised\u00a0<strong>weight of lorries<\/strong>, which depends on the specific type of vehicle.<span id=\"more-93535\"><\/span><\/p>\n<p>It is important to note that the maximum authorized weight, legally called Maximum Authorised\u00a0<strong>Mass (MMA) <\/strong>since 1999, is the result of adding the net load and the tare weight of the truck when empty.<\/p>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"What_is_the_maximum_authorised_weight_of_each_type_of_truck\"><\/span><span id=\"What_is_the_maximum_authorised_weight_of_each_type_of_truck\">What is the maximum authorised weight of each type of truck?<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>Depending on their characteristics, each type of truck must comply with a different limit. The maximum weights established by the regulations are as follows:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>For 2-axle trucks, the maximum weight is\u00a0<strong>18,000 kilograms<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>For 3-axle trucks, this limit is raised to\u00a0<strong>25 tonnes<\/strong>. However, if the truck in question has a driving axle equipped with dual tyres and air suspension, the maximum authorised weight may be increased by an extra tonne, and may therefore reach\u00a0<strong>26 tonnes<\/strong>.<\/li>\n<li>For 4-axle\u00a0<strong>trucks, 31 tonnes\u00a0<\/strong>is the limit, but you can go up a tonne more if you meet the following requirements: 2 steered axles, twin wheels and air suspension.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<blockquote><p>The Maximum Allowable Weight (MMA) is the result of adding the net load and the tare of the truck when empty.<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter\" src=\"https:\/\/web.archive.org\/web\/20241205161545im_\/https:\/\/cstgrupo.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2017\/05\/peso_maximo.jpg\" \/><\/p>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<p>In the event of non-compliance with these limits, the legislation provides for a series of\u00a0<strong>penalties<\/strong>\u00a0whose magnitude will depend on the maximum authorised mass for that lorry, the excess weight on one axle and the total excess weight.<\/p>\n<p>Thus, depending on the degree of non-compliance, the penalties are classified as very serious (fines of 3,301 to 4,600 euros), serious (1,501 to 2,000 euros) and light (301 to 400 euros).<\/p>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"vc_row wpb_row vc_row-fluid\">\n<div class=\"wpb_column vc_column_container vc_col-sm-12\">\n<div class=\"vc_column-inner\">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<div class=\"wpb_text_column wpb_content_element \">\n<div class=\"wpb_wrapper\">\n<h2><span class=\"ez-toc-section\" id=\"Importance_of_maximum_weight_in_international_transport\"><\/span><span id=\"Importance_of_maximum_weight_in_international_transport\">Importance of maximum weight in international transport<\/span><span class=\"ez-toc-section-end\"><\/span><\/h2>\n<p>It is very important to bear in mind that the limits mentioned are those established for Spain and that in other countries there are different limits.
