<\/span>A crucial sea<\/span><\/h2>\n

Red Sea, the\u00a0maritime strip<\/strong>, which is possibly the most strategic in the world, faces a serious threat. We close the year 2023 mired in a major maritime crisis that puts\u00a0the stability of the world market<\/strong>\u00a0at risk.<\/p>\n

This sea is crucial for\u00a0the transport of maritime<\/b>\u00a0goods, as it connects the\u00a0Indian Ocean<\/b>\u00a0with the\u00a0Mediterranean<\/b>\u00a0through the\u00a0Suez Canal<\/b>\u00a0and the\u00a0Bab el Mandeb<\/b>\u00a0Strait<\/b>. In other words,\u00a012% of world\u00a0<\/b>trade passes through this area<\/p>\n

The\u00a0civil war<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0Yemen<\/strong>\u00a0has triggered a significant economic crisis, and the situation has been influenced by events in Ukraine. Soldiers are attacking oil and cargo ships, but on October 7, everything changed with the Hamas attack on Israel.<\/p>\n

To put pressure on Israel and other powers, they are\u00a0beginning to attack<\/strong>\u00a0merchant ships. That is why many ships are choosing to take alternative routes around Africa towards the\u00a0Cabo de Buena Esperanza.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In the Red Sea, not only vital goods for Europe transit, but also energy resources from countries such as Qatar, Dubai and the United Arab Emirates. This strait has become a focus of geopolitical tensions.<\/p>\n

Blocking the\u00a0Red Sea<\/strong>\u00a0implies making a journey of\u00a010 additional days<\/strong>, which results in higher transportation costs and therefore, a growth in\u00a0inflatio<\/strong>n and\u00a0increased prices.<\/strong><\/p>\n

In response to the crisis, the\u00a0United States<\/strong>\u00a0has launched Operation Prosperity Guardian, in which countries such as the United Kingdom, France and Italy participate. As for\u00a0Spain<\/strong>, the Ministry of Defense has communicated that it will only participate if OTAN or the European Union decides so and always within the framework of said organizations.<\/p>\n

For now, with ship transit through the\u00a0Red Sea<\/strong>\u00a0assured, it remains to be seen if the United States decides to carry out direct intervention in Yemen.<\/p>\n
